Arrears: NLC begins warning strike Tuesday in Benue

Nigeria Labor Congress, NLC Benue State chapter has issued a one week warning strike notice to the state government.
The resolution was reached at after its meeting held yesterday in Makurdi.
In a communiqué signed by the NLC chairman Comrade Godwin Anya, Comrade Philip Nongo chairman Joint Public Service Negotiating Council, JPSNC and Comrade Ordue Tartenger which was also, made available to Peoples Daily, states that the warning strike commences on Tuesday 5th September, 2017.
The State Executive Council of the unions while maintaining that governor had passionately appealed to them to shelve the strike on grounds of paucity, have however, noted that the governor does not have any excuse to pay salaries of workers.
According to them, ‘Federal allocation to the state, internally generated revenue, IGR, Budget Support Funds, Paris Club Refund as well as stabilization Funds have not stopped accruing to the state’.
They appealed to the governor to make good the emergency on salaries declared by his government and pay all category of workers in the state.
The unions said the next line of action will be determined after the one week warning strike.
It would be recalled that labor has issued a 21 day ultimatum to the state government which took effect from August 1st,2017.
