By Ese Awhotu

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Disabilities, Dr. Samuel Ankeli has called on Nigerians to co-exist in peace and desist from making hate speeches.
Ankeli who made this call while donating food items to disabled persons on the occasion of Eid-el Kabir said, “We must live as one and no confusion or threat can change the destiny of Nigeria. We must see that Nigeria remains one and should not permit hate speeches”.
According to him, “the scriptures refer to peace as salaam and Salem which is a divine language as such we should walk in peace”.
He told the disabled persons that they were special people and thanked them for praying for the recovery of President Buhari and still encouraged them to keep on praying for him.
The Presidential aide used the occasion to call on the National Assembly to expedite action on the passage of the Bill on disability Rights that would enable disabled persons to have their own commission.
Speaking in the same vein, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Rehabilitation Committee of the Federal Civil Service Staff with Disabilities Multi-purpose Cooperative Society, Alhaji Abdulrauf Olarenwaju drew attention to the fact that the patriarchs of both Jews and Arabs came from the same lineage and as such adherents of both Christianity and Islam should live in peace.
In his words, “the father of Isaac and Ismail was Abraham and as such there was no need for discrimination between the two religions”.
He recalled that he attended an event in New York where they were encouraged to organize a symposium on religious tolerance and that it was necessary to imbibe the culture of tolerance because of generations yet unborn.
