By Mashe Umaru Gwamna The Police Officers Wives Association (POWA) said it would organise a campaign against drug abuse among the youth in Kano State in June. Mrs Asma'u Idris, President of the association, made the disclosure at a meeting with wives of Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) and Commissioners of Police (CPs) over the weekend in Abuja. Mrs Idris said that in spite of the economic situation in the country, the association would continue to affect the lives of women and children positively. "I know things are hard but we must give back to our police family, our host community especially to the Women and Children. "We must promote social and welfare activities for members to be self-employed; to add value to their lives,"she said. The president said that the association was organising a Youth Forum in Abuja to inculcate entrepreneurial skills in the youth. She charged members of the association to instill moral, intellectual and spiritual development into their children for the development of the country. She also appealed to them to patronise the association's facilities such as the Police Mortgage Bank, the Police Cooperative and the Police Hospitals. The president urged them to ensure the implementation of all directives by the management of the association at their zones and commands. "I will like to encourage you all to replicate at your own level all programmes that have been carried out at the national level to move the association to greater heights." Source: People's Daily
