Women Battling Breasts Cancer Get N9million

In a bid to eradicate breast cancer in Ondo State, some political appointees have donated a sum of N9.5m to assist breast cancer patients who can not afford the treatment cost.

The wife of the state governor, Mrs. Betty Akeredolu, disclosed this at the second day of the first forum for Wives of Ondo State Officials summit held at the Gani Fawehinmi Arcade, Akure, the state capital, on Thursday.

Akeredolu, who said women were very important in the nation building, declared that the Breast Cancer Association of Nigeria would continue to ensure that no woman in the state was killed by the deadly disease.

She said, “We have been able to raise N9.5m from some political appointees for the treatment of breast cancer for those patients who don’t have money for the treatment of the disease.

“The money was raised through auctioning. We want to thank the appointees for this but I will like to say that the auction is still on; we will welcome more from the people.”

The Ondo State First Lady also noted that the FOWOSO project had impacted lives of thousands of women in the state through skill acquisition, empowerment and health awareness programmes.
