Seven intending pilgrims from Nigeria have been confirmed dead after brief illnesses in Saudi Arabia during the ongoing 2017 hajj exercise.
The chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) Alhaji Abdullahi Mukhtar dropped the hint yesterday while speaking with journalists at the Minna area of Saudi Arabia.
He explained that, the deceased persons were from four states including Kaduna, Kwara, Kogi and Katsina state.
His words, “ our commission NAHCON as of today, Thursday morning, we have recorded and confirmed the death of seven intending pilgrims while on their hajj exercise.”
“Though we are yet to announce their name but we have already informed their state pilgrims board so that to send the information to their relatives adding that NAHCON will shortlist the death details after the exercise.” he said.
Alhaji Mukhtar also assured that their board will continue to do all its best for the welfare of Nigerian pilgrims and to ensure a successful hajj operation.
He urged Nigerian to continue their support to the board and abide by the rules and regulations of the Saudi Arabia to avoid anything that would tarnish the image of Nigeria.
