Fashola inaugurates Committee on Council of Surveyors

The Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola has inaugurated the Surveyors Council of Nigeria (SURCON) yesterday in Abuja .
The 10 member Council who were selected from different groups as well as the academia included representative of the Armed Forces, Surv. Lt. Col. Akinyemi, representative from Women-in-Surveying, Surv. (Mrs) Angela Etuonovbe, representative from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, Bauchi, Surv. Isa Abdulkadir, among others with President of the Council in the person of Surv. Joseph Agbenla.
This was contained in a statement signed by Henry David for :Acting Director (Information) said the Minister charged the Council members to perform their statutory responsibilities without fear or favour. He also encouraged them to be problems solver rather than creating it.
Earlier in his address ,The Surveyor-General of the Federation, Surv. Ebisintei Awudu, explained that without the input of the surveying profession, government’s diversification drive in restructuring the economy would not achieve the desired result.
Surv. Awudu also expressed the readiness of his Office to partner with SURCON in the areas of leadership, research, policy and strategy formulations.
The Council President, Surv. Joseph Agbenla in his responses thanked President Buhari for reposing confidence in them and assured that the Council will deliver on its terms of refrence without compromising .
The Minister, in the company of the Minister of State 1, Mustapha Baba Shehuri and the Minister of State II, Surveyor Suleiman Hassan Zarma, as well as the Permanent Secretary, Works and Housing sector, Mohammed ,Director, Human Resources Management, Mrs Morayo Alimi and the Ambassador of Romania to Nigeria ,Gheorghe Predescu.
