The Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II From Edwin Olofu,Kano The Kano State House of Assembly Wednesday constituted an eight man committee to investigate series of allegations leveled against the emir of Kano Muhammad Sunusi II. The latest development is coming on the heels of a fragile peace brokered by 19 northern states governor last month in Kaduna state. The Speaker of the Assembly, Kabiru Alhassan Rurum who presided over the sitting constituted the panel following a point of order by member representing Nasarawa constituency, Mr Ibrahim Ahmad Gama. The lawmaker alleged that Sanusi II has been spreading false information on the trip of Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje to China recently. The emir was alleged to have accused the governor and some state officials of corruption following their trip to China on the proposed light rail transport system in the state. The Assembly accused the emir for attacking the policies of the Federal Government under President Muhammadu Buhari. The lawmakers further alleged that the emirate under the leadership of Muhammadu Sanusi II spent funds without the approval of the governor and the assembly. Other alleged wrongdoing by the emir includes sending his daughter to represent him in a function without dressing in a full cultural regalia and not being a council member. The committee was given two weeks to submit its report.
