ITF, SMEDAN to kick-start skills development programme

The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) in collaboration with the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) will on Tuesday 23 May 2017 kick-start the second phase of its National Industrial Skills Development Programme (NISDP) under their National Enterprises Development Programme (NEDEP) training in eighteen states of the federation.
This latest development was constrained in a a recent press release from the Corporate Affair Unit (CAU) of SMEDAN.
The flag-off ceremony of the programme, according to the release will be performed by the Director General (DG) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of SMEDAN, Dr Dikko Umaru Radda.
The programme, the release went on is being undertaken under a tripartite arrangement between the ITF, Small and Medium Enterprises SMEDAN and Bank of Industry (BOI).
The trainees will be provided with hands-on vocational and entrepreneurial skills, as well as modalities for business financing. The NISDP was inaugurated in 2012 as a key enabler of the National Enterprises Development Programme (NEDEP) and the Nigeria Industrial Revolution Plan (NIRP), which is supervised by the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment (FMITI).
The training is designed to cover 10 000 participants who will be trained in 54 centers across the eighteen states.
It would however be recalled that early this year SMEDAN trained over 10,000 graduands of ITF vocational skills training on entrepreneurship and business development services under the NIDSP programme.
