The management of the Modibbo Adama University of Technology Yola (MAUTECH) has made its position public over the widely speculated students resuming registration scam in which over 958 students were defrauded of their registration fees by some fraudsters around the university's environment. Bursar of the university, Mr. Mamman Wazida Malgui while reacting to the development in Yola at the weekend told journalists that, the university authorities have earlier issued a circular ordering the returning students to make their registration payments through designated banks in to the university's accounts before going to the online registration at the institution's Prof.Jibril Aminu ICT centre. Malgui said it was when the university announced closing date for the exercise which was slated for 21,April,2017 that some of the students who became victims started making noise that they registered but their names didn't appeared on our master list of those that paid ."This wide speculation of suspected case of scam by students was caused by them, meaning the victimsm because we were categorical on warning them to go to our bankers and pay for registration not through proxy. "But to our dismay those crying foul now are the lazy ones who do their payments for registration through proxy(ies) in which their payments didn't hit our university's accounts, that means they have not pay any kobo to the university. "Our students nowadays want to follow shortcut in every aspect of human endeavour which no doubt throw them in to this mess because those among them that, adhere to the university's instructions are not complaining at all".Malgui fumed He explained that, the University's management has set up an investigative panel to unravel the rationale behind the unfortunate incident noting that investigation has so far uncovered that, there was connivance between the service providers of the institution and their surrogate agents. According to him, over N30Million was siphoned through the shady deal by the accomplices advising the victims to come forward with their evidence of payments to those suspected fraudsters so that it will assist the university to get to the root of the matter with ease. The Bursar said the university's official service providers includes; Socket works Ltd and Flexisaf Edusoft Ltd.Lagos who controls the registration outlets of the institution via pin code or Remittance Response (R.R). Some of the victimised students confessed in an interview that they were tired of the rigorous way of doing the registration and mistakenly trusted those fraudsters to register them while they either collect cash or you pay in to an account they give you.
